Thursday, April 22, is UTA’s day of giving: MavsDay 2021!

MavsDay is an opportunity to support UTA students and give back to the university that means so much to so many. Join Mavericks around the world as we celebrate this One Day for UTA. By harnessing the power of the entire UTA community, we can make a lasting impact and inspire the next generation.

UTA Virtual Innovation Day

Celebrate engineering student research

Engineering students participate in research at all stages of their academic careers, and the College of Engineering is celebrating their efforts with its fourth annual Innovation Day today, Monday, April 19.

The online event features posters and videos from 113 entries being judged by alumni, industry partners, and faculty. The categories are undergraduate research, graduate research, and senior design.

This year’s entries are available at the Virtual Innovation Day website.

Science Week

Nobel laureate to speak during Science Week

Steven Weinberg—Nobel laureate, theoretical physicist, and the Josey Regental Chair in Science at The University of Texas at Austin—is among the guest speakers during Science Week, through Saturday, April 24, hosted by the College of Science.

The theme of Science Week is climate change and its impact on the planet.

The Big Event comeback

The Big Event returned in a big way this year with nearly 300 volunteers participating in the day of service across 34 community service agencies and residences.

Early voting

UTA is an early voting site for the May 1 local elections. Cast your ballot 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Tuesday, April 27, at the Maverick Activities Center. Read more for times and other locations in Tarrant County.

'Everyday Ableism'

Amanda Kraus, president of the Association on Higher Education & Disability, leads a free workshop on “Everyday Ableism: Unpacking Disability Stereotypes and Microaggressions" at noon Wednesday, April 21.

COVID-19 and Latinas/os

Rogelio Sáenz, a professor of demography at UT San Antonio, will address "The Evolving Devastation of COVID-19 on the Latina/o Community" at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, via Teams.

Earth Week full of information

Celebrate our planet during Earth Week, Monday-Thursday, April 19-22, hosted by the Office of Sustainability.

On Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, learn about earth-friendly things from Mavs Go Green and enjoy a special Earth Day lunch at the Connection Cafe. A demonstration on edible plants and how to plant from table scraps will be on the Library mall.

Year-end prep session Wednesday

The Division of Business Affairs will present a year-end prep session at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, via Teams.

The goal of the session is to ensure that anyone involved in year-end transactions understands the processes and deadlines in order to ensure a smooth closeout of the current fiscal year and transition to the coming fiscal year. Please make plans to attend!

Volunteer for commencement

Assist with UTA's nine commencement ceremonies by signing up for at least two shifts and completing the UTA Commencement Volunteer Form by Wednesday, April 21. Meals, shirts, and UTA-branded masks will be provided to volunteers.

RSVP for Faculty, Associates meeting

Sign up to be part of the virtual Spring 2021 Faculty and Associates Meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, on Teams. The annual meeting celebrates and recognizes research and teaching award winners.

Individuals, managers, and supervisors should check the 2021 Recipient List for accuracy. Send corrections to Human Resources by Monday, May 31, to ensure inclusion in the printed program.
