COVID-19 vaccine available to employees

Effective immediately, UTA is partnering with Texas Health to provide access to COVID‑19 vaccines for all interested students and employees. The vaccine is free and will be administered at six Texas Health Community Clinics around the DFW Metroplex.

These clinics are open to the public, but UTA employees and students have priority access. Texas Health is administering the Pfizer vaccine.

Fresh perspective

Assistant Professor of Instruction Frederick Engram wanted to ensure the criminology and criminal justice students in his Institutional Corrections course received a fresh perspective.

His solution: a guest lecturer who could share his own experiences of life behind bars and the challenges that come after.

Do fish feel pain?

UTA participated with an international, multidisciplinary team that waded into the debate about whether fish feel pain.

The conclusion: while fish lack certain regions of the brain typically associated in humans with processing the unpleasantness of pain, this does not offer definitive proof that fish don’t experience painful events.

Faculty, associates awards

See the honors bestowed at the Spring Faculty and Associates Meeting, such as the Academy of Distinguished Teachers inductees and the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching. The event was held virtually last week.

Volunteers deadline extended

The deadline to volunteer for UTA's nine commencement ceremonies has been extended. Sign up for at least two shifts by completing the UTA Commencement Volunteer Form. Meals, shirts, and UTA-branded masks will be provided to volunteers.

Autonomous vehicle survey

UTA researchers need your input for a survey about riders' experiences using the Arlington RAPID autonomous vehicle.

Street closure Saturday

Planetarium Place will be closed north of the Maverick Garage entrance 7 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 1, in order to place HVAC equipment on the roof of the Central Library. The ADA parking lot on the east side of the Library will be unavailable during this time.

Report outside activities

Submit your request for outside activity or indicate you have none in the Outside Activity Portal in UTShare by Friday, April 30. Read more about outside activity.

Black Excellence Awards

Nominate faculty and staff for the Reby Cary Faculty Excellence Award and the Staff Excellence Award. Suggest a student for the Maxwell Scarlett Outstanding Student Award. Nominations are due Saturday, May 1.

UTA PD survey

Take a moment to provide your input in the UTA Police Department Community Satisfaction Survey by Friday, May 14. Your input is valuable in allowing the department to better serve our campus.

Outstanding Mavericks Awards

Nominate employees and teams who exemplify “being a Maverick” in all that they do for the Outstanding Maverick Awards. The deadline to submit the nomination form is Friday, May 21.
