Masks encouraged but no longer required

Beginning today, Friday, May 21, UTA will no longer mandate the wearing of masks on campus but continues to strongly encourage and recommend that Mavericks wear masks, particularly when inside campus buildings. This action comes on the heels of the CDC’s updated guidance that masks are optional for those who are fully vaccinated.

Vaccine available on campus

The COVID-19 vaccine is available on campus and locally. Find a vaccination site and register.

Flexible summer hours

The popular flexible summer hours program returns Monday, June 7–Friday Aug. 13. Participating employees work a compressed week of four 10-hour days with one day off during the work week.

Employee Service Awards

Individuals, managers, and supervisors should check the 2021 Recipient List for accuracy. Send corrections to Human Resources by Monday, May 31, to ensure inclusion in the printed program.

Summer parking permits

Summer-only parking rates are available for employees working on campus. Or choose the monthly, weekly, or daily options. Order your permit through MavPark.

Network maintenance Sunday

The UTA network will be unavailable from midnight-7 a.m. Sunday, May 23. Anyone using the network on campus will experience intermittent access up to two hours at a time. For details, visit the OIT website.

President's Forum on Tuesday

Tune in 1‑3 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, on Teams for the President's Forum hosted by the Staff Advisory Council. Guests include Teik C. Lim, interim president; Jewel Washington, chief human resources officer; and Bryan Samuel, vice president for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Coping with cancer

A UTA researcher is partnering with MD Anderson to improve health outcomes in Black men after prostate cancer diagnoses by investigating how these patients are coping with stress caused by the disease.

Be proactive; get a COVID test

Proactive testing for COVID-19 is available on campus through Health Services and the Curative Testing Center.

Policy additions and updates

AA-UA-PO-05 Graduate Assistant Compensation and Tuition Support—New policy to govern the compensation and tuition support provided to graduate assistants. Codifies current practices and is consistent with federal regulations.

HR-E-PR-19 Requesting Disability-Related Workplace Accommodations Procedure—This procedure has been updated to reflect current UTA processes and national best practices.

HR-LA-PR-11 Direct Donation of Sick Leave to Qualified Employees Procedure—This is a new procedure for UTA employees that allows an employee to donate sick leave to another employee that has a catastrophic medical situation occurring and has exhausted all sick leave options.

The following policies and procedures regarding time off have been reviewed, updated, and republished as part of regularly scheduled review and also to update for new timekeeping processes.

Food Pantry needs

The UTA/Tri-C Food Pantry needs juice, sugar, and body wash. Drop off donations 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at 405 W 1st St. For more details, email tri.c.cyndi@gmail.com.
