Interim President Teik Lim reflects on his four years at UT Arlington

Interim President Teik Lim completed four years of service at UTA at the end of June. He joined the University in 2017 as provost and vice president for academic affairs and as a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He was appointed UTA’s interim president in the spring of 2020. After four years on campus, he reflected on the milestones that contributed to UTA’s success and transformed the University.

Staff Conference

The annual Staff Conference is Tuesday-Thursday, July 13‑15, in Teams. This year's focus is diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Staff Advisory Council sponsors the event.

Virtual sessions are available each day at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Lunch-and-learn events are 1-2 p.m. each day.

Career Center comes to class

The UTA Lockheed Martin Career Development Center will come to your class to discuss career-related topics. Presentations must be requested at least two weeks in advance. Submit your request for the fall semester.

Creative Escapes

Faculty, staff meal plans

Faculty and staff meal plans are now available for the summer and fall. Each plan comes with Meal Swipes for the dining halls and Dining Dollars for all dining locations.

Support Dreamers

Mark your calendar for a training session on supporting DACA and undocumented Mavericks so they can be successful. Dreamers Ally Training is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21. For more information, email dreamers@uta.edu.

Commencement volunteers

Volunteers are needed for summer commencement, Aug. 18-19 at College Park Center. Submit the Commencement Volunteer Form by Friday, July 30.

Food Pantry needs

The UTA/Tri-C Food Pantry needs cooking oil, paper towels, protein bars, shelf-stable milk (one quart size), and milk alternatives (oat, soy, almond, rice, etc.). Drop off donations 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at 405 W. 1st St. For more details, email tri.c.cyndi@gmail.com.

Network maintenance on three Sundays

The UTA network will undergo maintenance from 2-7 a.m. on Sundays, July 18, July 25, and Aug. 1. Employees and students can expect intermittent interruptions to the network during the maintenance periods.

During the July 25 maintenance period only, the UTA Police Department’s main phone number will be unavailable. For emergency help, contact the alternative police emergency dispatch line by calling 817-371-0850. Employees and students will also experience intermittent interruptions to University telephones during this period.
