Virtual Benefits Fair on Tuesday

Learn more details about your options at UTA's virtual Benefits Fair 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, July 20. Benefit vendors will provide valuable information and hold drawings for prizes. Click on the link to find the agenda, info on insurance, wellness, and retirement, as well as the Benefit Focus app and the prize drawing.

Eligible employees will be able to make changes through Saturday, July 31, during Benefits Annual Enrollment for 2021‑22. Manage your benefits and find this year's enrollment highlights (in print and video), the Enrollment and Resource Guide, and the virtual enrollment page at the UT System Annual Enrollment website.

National honors

The Coalition of Urban Serving Universities has named UT Arlington as its inaugural Racial Justice and Equity Program Award winner.

Photodynamic therapy

Wei Chen, professor of physics, led an international team that has published a paper in the high-impact journal Bioactive Materials describing a breakthrough method of photodynamic therapy, an emerging cancer treatment.

Cognitive-emotional balance

Daniel Levine, professor of psychology, has published a new book that examines the need to balance cognitive and emotional processes and to place equal importance on emotion and reason.

Faculty Listening Session

Take a second look at (and listen to) the Faculty Listening Session. The session covers the 2021‑22 academic year and the return to campus.

Staff Listening Session

Tune in to a repeat of the Staff Listening Session about the return to campus and the COVID‑19 Academic Year 2021‑22 Campus Operation Plan.

Support Dreamers

Mark your calendar for a training session on supporting DACA and undocumented Mavericks so they can be successful. Dreamers Ally Training is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21. For more information, email dreamers@uta.edu.

Commencement volunteers

Volunteers are needed for summer commencement, Aug. 18‑19 at College Park Center. Submit the Commencement Volunteer Form by Friday, July 30.

Food Pantry needs

The UTA/Tri-C Food Pantry needs instant coffee, shelf-stable milk (quart size), milk alternatives (oat, soy, almond, rice, etc.), and dish soap. Drop off donations 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at 405 W. 1st St. For more details, email tri.c.cyndi@gmail.com.

Network maintenance on Sundays

The UTA network will undergo maintenance from 2‑7 a.m. on Sundays, July 25, and Aug. 1. Employees and students can expect intermittent interruptions to the network during the maintenance periods.

During the July 25 maintenance period only, the UTA Police Department’s main phone number will be unavailable. For emergency help, contact the alternative police emergency dispatch line by calling 817‑371‑0850. Employees and students will also experience intermittent interruptions to University telephones during this period.
