Math prof featured in exhibit of STEM women

Minerva Cordero, professor of mathematics and senior associate dean for research and graduate studies in the College of Science, is one of 122 women featured as 3D-printed statues in the #IfThenSheCan exhibit, which depicts female STEM professionals, at NorthPark Center in Dallas.

Biology team examines disease resistance of coral reefs

UTA biologists report that a coral reef’s tolerance for overall microbial imbalance when challenged with white plague disease reflects the coral’s overall disease resistance. The new study appears in the June 3 edition of the Nature online journal Communications Biology.

Presidential search begins

The UT System Board of Regents has launched a national recruitment effort for the UT Arlington presidency. A search advisory committee has been appointed. Teik C. Lim has been serving as interim president since March 2020.

Commencement volunteers

Volunteers are needed for summer commencement, Aug. 18‑19 at College Park Center. Submit the Commencement Volunteer Form by Friday, July 30.

Network maintenance on Sundays

The UTA network will undergo maintenance from 2‑7 a.m. on Sundays, July 25, and Aug. 1. Employees and students can expect intermittent interruptions to the network during the maintenance periods.

During the July 25 maintenance period only, the UTA Police Department’s main phone number will be unavailable. For emergency help, contact the alternative police emergency dispatch line by calling 817‑371‑0850. Employees and students will also experience intermittent interruptions to University telephones during this period.
