Cavanagh named interim dean of Liberal Arts

Dan Cavanagh has been named interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts, effective Thursday, Sept. 2. He will fill the position vacated by Elisabeth Cawthon, who will continue at UTA as a faculty member.

Cavanagh is a professor of music and is the current Department of Music chair.

Make changes to your benefits, reenroll in UT FLEX, or choose other options before the Benefits Annual Enrollment deadline of midnight Saturday, July 31. If you do not wish to make changes, no action is needed. Parking changes set, permits available

Read about the changes for fall 2021 parking and 2021-22 parking regulations. A few highlights are:

  • Parking permits for 2021-22 are on sale now through MavPark. See the rate card.
  • Payroll deductions for permits will switch from eight months to 12 months.
  • Lot F10 changes include a "reserved zone" pilot project, making lot CWP the new lot F13, and ADA parking locations.
  • Lipscomb Hall and Center Point apartment lots will close.

Other changes include seven-day permits, bike share, and new late-night escort vehicles.

Advanced helmet

Ashfaq Adnan, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, is developing advanced helmets to ensure that members of the military are as protected as possible from blasts and other types of attacks.

UTA My Way

The UTA My Way program is open to incoming freshmen and transfer students. It features guests who share their perspectives on the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity and offers information sessions with cultural student leaders on campus.

Get ready for Windows device upgrade

Over the next few months, the Office of Information Technology asks faculty, staff, and student workers with UTA-owned Windows devices to complete a few steps before an upgrade. To prepare for the change, review the Frequently Asked Questions, Project Details, and Help Resources.

Commencement volunteers

Volunteers are needed for summer commencement, Aug. 18‑19 at College Park Center. Submit the Commencement Volunteer Form by Friday, July 30.

Network maintenance

The UTA network will undergo maintenance from 2‑7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1. Employees and students can expect intermittent interruptions to the network during the maintenance periods. For more information, please visit the OIT website.

Food Pantry needs

The UTA/Tri-C Food Pantry needs milk alternatives (almond, oat, rice, soy, etc.), paper towels, deodorant, laundry detergent, chips, rice, and juice. Drop off donations 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at 405 W. 1st St. For more details, email tri.c.cyndi@gmail.com.
