More on-campus COVID-19 clinics available

Three on-campus COVID‑19 vaccine clinics are available, offering free immunizations with the FDA-approved Pfizer vaccine.

The walk-in-only clinics are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23; 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, Sept. 30; and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6.

Avoid UTA Boulevard west of Cooper

A water main has ruptured beneath UTA Boulevard west of the intersection with Cooper Street. Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes in and out of campus today while the city of Arlington works to make repairs.

The broken water main may affect water pressure in campus buildings. Please report low water pressure or disruption in water service to the Office of Facilities Management by calling 817‑272‑2000.

By making a gift to the UTA Scholarship Fund on North Texas Giving Day Thursday, Sept. 23, you will help UTA expand its support of talented students as they work to complete their degrees.

Compliance training required

UTA’s annual compliance training will help you understand and comply with important laws, policies, and regulations.

Access your training in Canvas at uta.instructure.com or go to the Faculty & Staff Resources page and click UTA App on the right. The course you are required to complete is 2218‑GCTA‑2122-100-Annual-Compliance-Training-2021-Fall.

You must complete training by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22. If training is not completed by that date, your Net ID will be deactivated and your ability to receive merit increases may be impacted.

As part of annual compliance training, access the Outside Activity Portal to indicate whether or not you have outside activities. All outside activities must be approved on an annual basis.

Record freshman class

For the fifth straight year, UTA has enrolled its largest freshman class ever, an increase of more than 9% over the record-setting fall 2020 class.

Sustainable concrete

Warda Ashraf, assistant professor of civil engineering, is working to make concrete and cement more sustainable by adding nanoscale fibers from wood to the material.

Psychology of stuttering

Christine Abasi, an Honors College student majoring in psychology and communication studies, is using her personal experience to help others. She is researching the psychological causes of stuttering.

Testing recognition

Arrayon Farlough Rollins, associate director for testing services, received the Service and Leadership Award of the National College Testing Association. She is chair of the group's professional development committee.

UTA's Health Services recommends flu vaccination before Sunday, Oct. 31, to allow time for antibodies to develop prior to flu season.

Microsoft Authenticator

Beginning Thursday, Sept. 23, UT Arlington will use Microsoft Authenticator to log in. If you use MyMav, UTA email, or Canvas on or off campus, you do not need to do anything. If you have not used these systems, follow these steps on Managing Your Devices Through Microsoft Authenticator.

Food Festi-ful

Maverick Dining will host Food Festi-ful 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at the Connection Cafe. Activities include games, a photo station, and a Teaching Kitchen with a livestream of "Ready Jet Cook" on the Food Network. Maverick Dining will give $1 to Tri-C Food Pantry for each guest attending.

Make sure your department or organization is represented at UTA's National Night Out 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Brazos Park.

Grad School Expo

UTA will host the Graduate School Expo 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, in the Palo Duro Lounge of the University Center. The expo is free for students considering graduate or professional school, with representatives from UTA's graduate programs and other universities and institutions from across the state.

SAC wants you to lose

Losers can win with the Staff Advisory Council's Biggest Loser Competition. The weight loss and fitness program is sponsored by Camp Gladiator. Register by Friday, Sept. 24.
