COVID-19 vaccine clinic Wednesday

An upcoming on-campus clinic offering free immunizations with the FDA-approved Pfizer vaccine is available. The walk-in-only clinic is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the Maverick Activities Center.

The deadline for the Maverick Motivator Program has been extended to Wednesday, Oct. 6, to allow more Mavericks the chance to get both doses of the COVID‑19 vaccine and enter for large prizes. Regardless of where you received your vaccine, upload proof of full vaccination to the COVID‑19 Self Report portal in MyMav for a chance to receive prizes.

If you received your first vaccine dose at the Sept. 15 clinic, you will be eligible to receive your second dose at the Oct. 6 clinic.

Maverick Speakers Series Virtual, Simu Liu, Oct. 21, 7;30 p.m.

Maverick Speakers Series

Join UTA for “A Conversation with Simu Liu,” star of Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, as part of the Virtual Maverick Speakers Series.

Liu is the newest star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is also known for his role on the TV series Kim’s Convenience.

The talk will be streamed at uta.edu/maverickspeakers and is free to watch. Sign up to receive a reminder email.

National Night Out at UTA

National Night Out

The UTA Police Department will be hosting National Night Out 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, in Brazos Park.

The event will include free food, prizes, activities, and demonstrations related to public safety. A large number of community partners will attend and promote various aspects of public safety.

Fall Faculty and Associates

The Fall Faculty and Associates Meeting, which recognizes new professors emeriti, is set for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, in the Rio Grande Ballroom of the University Center. Register to attend.

Social policy symposium

Big names in social policy and advocacy are scheduled for the inaugural SPEAK Virtual Symposium sponsored by the School of Social Work. The symposium is Thursday-Friday, Oct. 7-8.

Fall2021 Community Partner Breakfast

Partner Breakfast, Volunteer Opportunity Exchange

Make plans to attend the annual Community Partner Virtual Breakfast 8-10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, in the Rio Grande Ballroom of the University Center.

The annual Partner Breakfast brings together UT Arlington faculty, staff, and administrators with regional nonprofit community agencies, providing a unique opportunity for collaboration in service learning projects within UT Arlington academic courses.

After the breakfast, go to the Volunteer Opportunity Exchange 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Palo Duro Lounge of the University Center. The exchange allows the UTA community to network with area nonprofit agencies to find ongoing or short-term service learning or volunteer opportunities.

Tri-C Food Pantry

Walktober is here

An active lifestyle is fundamental to feeling and being your best. A good way to start is to join Walktober, the UT System 2021 Fall Fitness Wellness Challenge.

The 28-day Walktober challenge runs Monday, Oct. 4-Sunday, Oct. 31, and is open to all UT SELECT medical plan members and dependents age 18 and above. The last day to register for this friendly competition—as an individual or a team—is Friday, Oct. 8.
