UTA awarded $1M matching gift from Arlington Tomorrow Foundation

UT Arlington and the city of Arlington announced a $1 million matching gift from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, the city’s charitable arm, in support of the University’s new School of Social Work/Smart Hospital Building.

The gift serves as a dollar-for-dollar challenge grant with the goal of inspiring alumni as well as other members of the Maverick community to take part in bringing the state-of-the-art facility to life. Gifts donated in support of the building will be matched by the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation up to $1 million.

Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine clinic at MAC

UTA has scheduled three more on-campus vaccine clinics to give you and your family convenient, free access to the Pfizer vaccine. This includes first and second doses for all individuals 12 years and older and booster doses for eligible individuals.

Clinics will be held on a walk-in-only basis 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Group Exercise Room (101B) in the Maverick Activities Center. The clinics are Wednesday, Nov. 3; Wednesday, Nov. 17; and Wednesday, Dec. 1.

If you’ve been vaccinated, check the CDC’s guidelines for booster shots to see if you’re eligible and if you should make plans to get one.

Google Dissertation Award

Rodrigo Augusto Dos Santos, computer science and engineering doctoral student, is one of 10 students nationwide to win a Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions Google Dissertation Award.

Research Integrity Symposium

Faculty and staff can attend the virtual Research Integrity Symposium Friday, Oct. 29. The focus is on diversity in research and will feature keynote speaker Alison Gammie from the National Institutes of Health. Register to attend.

Certify annual financial report

The deadline to certify the Annual Financial Report in SAHARA is Monday, Nov. 1. Deans, chairs, and administrative department heads are required to certify that financial information is reviewed.

Free flu shots

Free flu shots are available on campus until 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 27, at room 200 in the Wetsel Service Center. See more information and reserve your appointment at go.uta.edu/flushot.

Random COVID-19 testing

Students, faculty, and staff coming to any UTA campus in any capacity will be selected at random for mandatory COVID‑19 testing. Notifications will come from covidtesting@uta.edu. You will have seven days to get tested after being selected.

Early voting for the Nov. 2 elections is at the Maverick Activities Center 7 a.m.-7 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 29.

Families can enjoy children's games, activities, popcorn, candy, and more at the Great Pumpkin Carnival 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, in Maverick Circle in front of the University Center. The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life hosts the free event.

Fall Harvest & Trunk-or-Treat

Join the School of Social Work for the second annual Fall Harvest & Trunk-or-Treat. Register to attend this drive-thru-only event that is 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.
