Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine clinic at MAC

The FDA-approved Pfizer vaccine, including both initial doses and booster doses for eligible individuals, will be available on campus Wednesday, Nov. 17, and Wednesday, Dec. 1, in the Group Exercise Room (101B) in the Maverick Activities Center. No appointment is needed.

The clinic is open and free of charge to all UTA students, employees, and their family members 12 years and older.

If you’ve been vaccinated, check the CDC’s guidelines for booster shots to see if you’re eligible and if you should make plans to get one.

Clinics are being planned to accommodate dependents age 5-11 years old, as the CDC recently approved this demographic.

COVID-19 testing site at UC moves

The Curative COVID‑19 testing site in the University Center has moved to the Carlisle Suite on the second floor. This location is recommended for employees and students without COVID‑19 symptoms seeking proactive testing or required testing.

Appointments are required, but can be made onsite as a walk-in if availability allows.

Faculty, staff, and students coming to any UTA campus in any capacity will be selected at random for mandatory COVID‑19 testing. Notifications will come from covidtesting@uta.edu.

Alumna donates

A $1.25 million gift from alumna Jacqualyn Fouse will help College of Business students expand their worldview through study abroad while enhancing their opportunities to achieve academic and professional success.

Shepard honored

Melanie Shepard, director of Multicultural Affairs, has been awarded the Student Success Champion Award by the Division of Student Success. She was recognized for creating diversity, equity, and inclusion curriculum for First Year Experience classes.

New student work program

Students can receive valuable hands-on learning opportunities to advance their academic and career goals through the UTA College Work Experience Program, a new work experience partnership between UTA and Lockheed Martin.

Texas Autocross Saturday

UTA’s 20th annual Texas Autocross competition will feature about 35 student-built racecars from universities across the country competing Saturday, Nov. 6. The competition starts at 9 a.m. on Lot 49.

UT System Day

For UT System Day Wednesday, Nov. 10, look for representatives of the Office of Human Resources, Staff Advisory Council, and Employee Advisory Council to visit your department with some mid-week treats.

Forum on Strategic Plan 2025 Theme

Attend the introduction of the new Strategic Plan 2025 theme, Culture and Societal Transformations, 1-3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at the Rio Grande Ballroom in the University Center.

This is a collaborative forum for open-ended exploration of the complex interactions that constitute the diversity of human experience: cultural and artistic expressions, social environment, and the physical world.

The conversation will focus on five topics related to advancing interdisciplinary research and creative works: community development and engagement; diversity of communication; diversity of creative expression and experience; advocacy and civic engagement; and finding solutions to inequities in our world.

The First Friday Lunch with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion welcomes faculty, staff, and students to share thoughts, questions, and concerns about UTA's DEI efforts. Reserve a seat for noon Friday, Nov. 5, at the University Club.
