COVID-19 vaccine clinics scheduled

UTA has four COVID‑19 vaccine clinics planned, including two to administer the pediatric vaccine to children ages 5-11. These free walk-in-only clinics will be in the Maverick Activities Center and are open to dependents and family members of UTA students and employees.

The clinics for ages 12 and older are in the Group Exercise Room 101B.

  • Today, Wednesday, Nov. 17, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

The clinics for ages 5 years and older are in room 100B.

  • Saturday, Nov. 20, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 11, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The clinics offer first and second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, as well as booster doses for eligible individuals.

Planetarium Plaza

Road closures planned for construction of new Planetarium Plaza

Nedderman Drive at West Street and Planetarium Place will be closed permanently Monday, Nov. 22, for the creation of Planetarium Plaza, a pedestrian pathway with green space.

ADA parking behind the Central Library will be relocated to the Maverick Garage. Planetarium bus parking will be relocated to West Street.

The only traffic allowed on Nedderman Drive will be deliveries to the construction site, SEIR, the Life Science loading docks, and the limited number of ADA and reserved spaces at the SEIR Building.

Texas Tier One

Hundreds of faculty, staff, and students gathered in Brazos Park in the heart of campus to recognize UT Arlington achieving the Texas Tier One designation, which signifies excellence in academics and research.

Top presenters

Jimmy-Bao Le, Mohsen Tajedini, and Allison Osmanson, materials science and engineering doctoral students, earned the Best Student Presenter Award at TECHCON 2021, the flagship technical conference of the Semiconductor Research Corp.

First-generation stories

Learn about the personal stories of UTA students at First-Generation Panel: #IAmFirst: First-Generation Student Voices 4-5 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the Lonestar Theater of the Maverick Activities Center.

International Food Fair

Try delicious foods from around the world while supporting UTA's cultural student organizations at the International Food Fair 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, on the University Center Mall. It's part of International Education Week.

Service-learning gathering

Service-Learning Faculty: The Gathering is a breakfast and networking event with service learning faculty and staff across campus. Register for the gathering, which is 8:30-10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, in Trinity Hall.

Military, veteran services

Come to the UTA Military and Veteran Services Showcase and learn about programs and services for veterans and their families 2-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, in the Palo Duro Lounge of the University Center.

Thanksgiving dinner

Join fellow Mavericks for a Thanksgiving dinner 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Connection Café in the University Center.

This dinner is free for students with a meal plan. Tickets are required for non-meal plan holders and cost $7 for students and $10 for faculty, staff, and community members.

Donations to the Maverick Pantry will be accepted at the door.
