Two more COVID-19 vaccine clinics set

UTA has two COVID‑19 vaccine clinics planned, including one to administer the pediatric vaccine to children ages 5-11. These free walk‑in‑only clinics will be in the Maverick Activities Center and are open to dependents and family members of UTA students and employees.

The clinic for ages 12 and older is in Group Exercise Room 101B.

  • Wednesday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

The clinic for ages 5 years and older is in room 100B.

  • Saturday, Dec. 11, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The clinics offer first and second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, as well as booster doses for eligible individuals.

Take COVID-19 test after holiday

All Mavericks are encouraged to get tested after traveling or attending large gatherings over the Thanksgiving holiday. Make an appointment for the testing site in the Carlisle Suite in the University Center or in the College Park District.

Stem cell predictors

Alan Bowling, associate professor of mechanical engineering, leads a team working to create a simulation technique that better predicts how stem cells develop into specific cells, such as bone or skin.

Fighting multidrug resistance

Joseph Boll, assistant professor of biology, is working to identify and inhibit the defense mechanisms of Acinetobacter baumannii, a pathogen that thrives in hospitals and clinical settings.

Thanksgiving gathering

Students, faculty, and staff gathered in the Connection Café for an evening full of food and gratitude at the annual Thanksgiving Dinner.

NIH 'All of Us' study

Learn about the National Institutes of Health's All of Us study and how researchers and individuals can participate in this historic health database. The event is noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, in room 198 in the SEIR building and on Teams.

Winter food drive

Bring your donations to the Winter Holiday Food Drive for the Maverick Pantry 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in front of the University Center.

DEI professional development

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has launched a Diversity Certificate Program available to faculty and staff. The program comprises two core workshops and a minimum of five electives.

Electronic accessibility courses

A series of courses on making electronic resources accessible for people with disabilities starts this week. Sign up for the Electronic Accessibility series, offered by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Tri-C Food Pantry
