COVID-19 vaccine clinic Wednesday at MAC

UTA has scheduled an additional on-campus clinic Wednesday, March 30, to offer the COVID‑19 vaccines and booster, free of cost, to UTA students, employees, and their families and dependents.

The clinic will operate on a walk-in-only basis 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Room 102B in the Maverick Activities Center.

At the on-campus clinic, operated in partnership with Walmart, individuals 12 and older can receive first and second doses of both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Booster doses are available for all eligible individuals.

Brain mapping

Dajiang Zhu, computer science and engineering assistant professor, has received a National Institutes of Health grant to map the brain in an effort to detect Alzheimer’s disease earlier.

Biolabs at Pegasus Park

UT Arlington is a gold-level sponsor for the newly opened Biolabs at Pegasus Park, a state-of-the-art coworking facility for biotech startups. Students, faculty, and staff will be able to participate in Biolabs’ events, seminars, and networking.

Gao named fellow

Jean Gao, professor of computer science and engineering, was named a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.

Lemaux reappointed

Gov. Greg Abbott has reappointed UTA Police Department Chief Kim Lemaux to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. A commission member since 2017, she has been the presiding officer since 2019.

Parking notice

Two large events on campus Friday-Saturday, March 25-26, affect parking lots F6 and F9. Permit holders can still use the traditional parking lots during normal Friday work hours.

Policy changes

AA-FH-PO-03 Instructor and Faculty Credentials—Updates were made to this policy to comply with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges credentialing requirements.

AA-FH-PO-07 Faculty Absences and Leaves Policy—This policy was updated to provide discretion for using the replacement pay pool to hire a replacement for a faculty member on leave who requests more than four weeks' leave within a consecutive 12-week period.

AA-FP-PO-07 The University Committee on Committees—This policy is for faculty shared governance on University Committees and how they recommend names for committees. The committees were clarified, and changes were made to better define the schedule for recommendations.

AA-FPT-PO-06 Review of Academic Administrators/Questionnaire—This policy was updated to adjust the questionnaire format and applicable questions.

Feel Like a Million wellness program

Feel Like a Million is a board game-themed program to increase energy and help participants feel their best. Each day that participants record one or more energy-boosting activities, they will earn virtual dollars and experience progress by moving along the game board on their desktop or mobile device. Every activity is a move closer to achieving the goal of $1 million virtual.

Register individually or as a team. Feel Like a Million will span from Monday, April 4, to Sunday, May 1. Three UT System institutions will be awarded the Living Well Traveling Trophy after Sunday, May 1.

The Big Event

Faculty and staff can participate in The Big Event on Saturday, April 9, which includes 40 community service projects. A celebration for volunteers is 1-3 p.m. with complimentary lunch, entertainment, and activities.

Learn new TCP timekeeping system

Complete training for TCP, UTA’s new timekeeping system, before it launches on Friday, April 1. This training in Canvas is required for all faculty and staff.

If you need in-person assistance, or need a computer to access the training class, dedicated support is available in Trinity Hall, room 104. The come-and-go sessions are:

  • Today, Thursday, March 24, 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 29, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 31, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The TCP Canvas Training Support Teams channel is public, so anyone from UTA can join, no code required.

Join your fellow Mavericks Saturday, April 9, for the return of the annual UTA Jazz Brunch at the Main Street Arts Festival in Fort Worth!

The UTA Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, and Jazz Combo will perform live on the UTA Main Stage at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m.

Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the UTA Main Stage Hospitality Suite located at Ninth and Main streets. Tickets are $35 per person.
