Location change: Campus picnic to welcome new president in UC

Faculty, staff, and students can welcome President Jennifer Cowley to campus at a special barbecue lunch 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3. Vegetarian options will be available.

Due to anticipated inclement weather, the picnic will be held in the Bluebonnet Ballroom inside the E.H. Hereford University Center.

Sustainability top marks

UT Arlington ranked No. 8 among American colleges and universities in an international measure for sustainability, according to the 2022 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.

Volunteer for Commencement

Volunteers are needed for UTA's seven commencement ceremonies. Complete the Commencement Volunteer Form by today, Monday, May 2, for one or more shifts. All volunteers should attend one of two training sessions set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, and 9 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at College Park Center.

Phishing Alert Report button

On Tuesday, May 3, a Phishing Alert Report button will automatically appear in all UTA Outlook email accounts, making it easier to report spam and keep our email secure.

MAV eShop info session

Procurement and Payment Services and Knowledge Services will host a virtual information session about MAV eShop, the University’s e-shopping portal, 1-2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, on Teams.

Nominations needed

Nominations for the Outstanding Assessment Practitioner awards (faculty or staff) are due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 1. Email diane.waryashughey@uta.edu with questions. Nominate yourself or someone else.

Early voting at MAC

Early voting for the May 7 constitutional and joint elections will be at the Maverick Activities Center 7 a.m.-7 p.m. today, Monday, May 2-Tuesday, May 3.

Faculty Teaching in the Archives Grant

UT Arlington Libraries invites applications for the Faculty Teaching in the Archives Grant Program for the 2022-23 academic year.

The grant program is aimed at faculty who would like to design or invigorate an undergraduate or graduate course with unique content from UTA Libraries Special Collections.

Preference will be given to faculty proposals that utilize African American primary source materials or other primary sources that highlight the diversity found within Special Collections' materials to generate innovative primary source assignments and projects for students. The course must be taught in fall 2022, spring 2023, or summer 2023 semesters.

Applications are due Friday, May 27.

Celebrando el Éxito

UTA's Latino students and their families are invited to Celebrando el Éxito, the first campus-wide Latino/Hispanic achievement ceremony, 5:30-10 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the Lone Star Auditorium of the Maverick Activities Center.

Annual Glass Art Sale

Faculty, staff, and students get an early peek at the annual Glass Art Sale. Bring your UTA ID for the early sale 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Studio Arts Center. The sale for the general public is 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 7.

Dallas Wings start May 7

UTA community members can purchase discount tickets for the Dallas Wings home opener, which is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in College Park Center. Use promo code UTA22. The ticket includes pre- and post-game festivities with some of the players and coaches, as well as $1 hot dogs.

Maverick Open

Registration is open for the annual Maverick Open, which supports UTA Athletics. The tourney is Friday, May 6, at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington. For more details, contact Maverick Club Director Kyle Callender at 817-272-0694 or kyle.callender@uta.edu.

Metro Golf Tournament

Sign up for the 47th Annual Metro Golf Tournament for faculty, staff, and alumni Monday, May 16, at Iron Horse Golf Course. Register by Monday, May 9. Breakfast, lunch, and prizes are planned.
