Homecoming 2022 is here!

Light up your week with a parade, basketball games, fellowship, and more as Homecoming 2022 begins in Maverick Country.

Enjoy the Chili Cook-Off Wednesday, Nov. 9, and volleyball and basketball through the week. Saturday, Nov. 12, is filled with the 5K run/walk and a golf tournament, followed by a street festival and the Homecoming parade.

Sánchez-Murillo named fellow

Ricardo Sánchez-Murillo, associate professor of earth and environmental sciences, was named an early career research fellow in the Gulf Research Program by the National Academy of Sciences.

Robotic assistance

Fillia Makedon, a distinguished professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, is developing a robotic system that helps people with spinal cord injuries perform everyday tasks, and she’s involving members of the UTA Movin’ Mavs wheelchair basketball team in the effort.

'A Brief History of UTA'

Student employees of Special Collections curated a mini-exhibit that highlights UTA's history from 1895 onward. A Brief History of UTA runs Tuesday, Nov. 8-Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Central Library.

UT System Day

For UT System Day, representatives of the Office of Human Resources, Staff Advisory Council, and Employee Advisory Council will stop by your department to say "hi" and drop off some mid-week treats. Look for them 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10.

Adobe Sign news

Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 8, Adobe Acrobat Sign will no longer support Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or legacy Microsoft Edge browsers. For uninterrupted Acrobat Sign access, Adobe recommends using Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.

Nominate a future Mav

Complete the Refer a Maverick Nomination form for a prospective high school student, transfer student, or graduate student to receive information on admissions, scholarships, and specialized information. Faculty and staff who submit nominations will receive a special recognition.

Presidential Scholars

The Office of Admissions will recognize the 2022 Presidential Scholarship recipients at the men's basketball game against Hardin-Simmons Tuesday, Nov. 15, at College Park Center. Top high school seniors also will be present at the game.

'Soul of a Professor'

Faculty Affairs and Academic Affairs host Lisa Pruitt, who will speak about Soul of a Professor: Memoir of an Un-Engineered Life on her experiences balancing life and work in academia at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in room 104 of Trinity Hall.

SECC campaign successful

Thank you, UTA employees, for supporting the State Employee Charitable Campaign this year.

We raised $13,916 during our campaign Sept. 15-Oct. 15.

These funds will go to support the many organizations that you chose. Mavericks in the community make a difference.

Grad school event

Attend Graduate School Bound to learn about great graduate opportunities noon Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the San Jacinto room of the University Center. Learn how to select a graduate program and obtain insight into the graduate admission process and potential funding opportunities.

UT CARE Medicare Advantage PPO

The new UT CARE Medicare Advantage PPO plan takes effect Jan. 1, 2023, for Medicare-eligible retirees and their dependents. UT CARE Medicare Advantage Retiree Annual Enrollment runs through Tuesday, Nov. 15.
