Nursing partnership

UTA has entered into an articulation agreement with Weatherford College to create a direct pathway for students to earn their master’s degrees in nursing. Leaders from both institutions marked the occasion during a signing ceremony.

Nuestra Comunidad

The Office of the Provost has selected Regina Praetorius, professor of social work, as its inaugural fellow to launch Nuestra Comunidad, a program designed to advance Latinx student well-being on campus.

Ukraine lecture

Brian Whitmore, assistant professor of practice, presents a public lecture on "Ukraine and the Final Stage of the Soviet Collapse" Wednesday, Feb. 1. The event is sponsored by the Charles T. McDowell Center for Global Studies.

Expect heavy traffic Feb. 2

The UTA Women's Basketball team will be hosting Kids Day Thursday, Feb. 2. Permit holders should expect more than 100-plus buses and 5,000 kids to be on campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Center Street and Spaniolo Drive will be impacted as children unload and load the buses near Moritz Plaza. Buses will park in lot 26 near Maverick Stadium and lot 25 near the intramural fields.

Afro Latino/a Roundtable

Do you identify as Afro Latino/a or want to learn more about this cultural background? Join UTA Libraries for open dialogue around what it means to be Afro Latino/a Thursday, Feb. 2.

Maverick Experience Feb. 4

UTA will welcome prospective freshman and transfer students on campus for Maverick Experience on Saturday, Feb. 4. This event is the perfect way for prospective students and their families to learn about all the amazing things UTA has to offer.

TExBioMed Summer Institute

The Training and Experiential Learning in Biomedical Informatics (TExBioMed) Summer Institute at UTA supports short-term training that prepares undergraduate students for biomedical informatics and data science graduate studies and research careers. Eleven students will each receive a $7,200 stipend to participate. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Alumni luncheon

UTA alumni are invited to the next Fort Worth Alumni Chapter Luncheon at Joe T. Garcia’s on Wednesday, March 1. The luncheon will feature guest speaker Troy Johnson, vice president for enrollment management. Tickets are $25 per person and include a buffet lunch. Five dollars of the ticket cost is a gift to support alumni programming.

Policy update

EI-PO-09 University Records Regarding Student Identity Policy

This new policy was created in furtherance of UTA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and allows students to designate in MyMav an affirmed name, gender identity, and gender pronouns, which will be reflected in Canvas, class rosters, and other UTA records.
