Next College of Liberal Arts dean selected

Elizabeth Terese Newman will serve as the next dean of the College of Liberal Arts, effective July 1. Dr. Newman is currently the vice provost for curriculum and undergraduate education at Stony Brook University.

Employee tuition assistance

Beginning in summer 2023, UTA employees will have access to a new tuition assistance program, the UTA Employee Tuition Affordability Program (UTA-ETAP). UTA-ETAP replaces the current tuition reimbursement process by paying for eligible courses upfront, much like a scholarship. Details can be found at go.uta.edu/benefits.

UTA research helps brain surgeons

UTA researchers have discovered new diagnostic testing methods for children who suffer from epileptic seizures, KERA News reported. The methods are noninvasive and provide highly precise information about where patients' seizures originate in the brain, allowing surgeons to better target and treat the disease.

Afro/Latino Roundtable

Do you identify as Afro Latino/a or want to learn more about this cultural background? Join UTA Libraries for open dialogue around what it means to be Afro Latino/a Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Refugee experiences panel

Join the Office of Cultural Engagement and Social Change for a panel discussion on the experiences of women refugees titled "Raising Her Voice, Offering a Hand: The Refugee Experience." Attend this kickoff to Women's History Month Wednesday, March 1, at 12 p.m. in the Rosebud Theater.

Next TMAC executive director selected

Rodney Reddic will serve as the next executive director of the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC), effective March 1. Reddic has served TMAC for more than 20 years, providing consultation services to manufacturers and businesses throughout Texas. Learn more at tmac.org.

Years of service celebration

Faculty and staff members reaching milestones of 10 years or more of service to UTA should review the 2023 service awards list for accuracy. Email revisions to askhr@uta.edu by Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Employee exit form

Beginning Wednesday, March 1, the Office of Talent, Culture, and Inclusion (TCI) will implement new employee clearance and release processes. Resigning employees will be required to complete the Employee Clearance and Release Request form within two weeks of their separation date. Learn more at TCI's website.

Student employee awards

Supervisors are invited to nominate their outstanding student employees to win a student employment award from the Career Development Center. Please submit only one nomination per student by the deadline Monday, March 6, at 12 p.m.
