Shuttle to polling place

Student Government has chartered a shuttle for students who want to vote early for the Nov. 5 election. The shuttle will operate noon-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, from The Commons on West Nedderman Drive to the Tarrant County Sub-Courthouse on Abram Street. The shuttle will take about 20 minutes for the round trip.

Early voting for the Nov. 5 general election runs through Friday, Nov. 1.

Jim Grover is the new dean of the Graduate Studies program.

Grover named dean of Graduate School

James Grover has been selected as the new dean of the Graduate School effective Monday, Oct. 28.

Dr. Grover joined the UTA faculty in 1993 and is a professor in the Biology Department. He is project director for UTA's Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning.

He will continue in his role as the interim vice president for research until that position is filled through a national search.

Digital resources acquired

UTA Libraries has acquired five collections of digital primary resources focused on minority histories, race relations, and social justice from Adam Matthew Digital.

Homecoming

Homecoming means a week of fun and festivities in Maverick Country from Monday, Nov. 4, to Sunday, Nov. 10. Find details, registration forms, and tickets at uta.edu/homecoming.

Start the week with Paint Your Ride 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, at Arlington Hall, West Hall, and Lot 49.

Register now for the Homecoming Challenge, Creation Donation, the Chili Cook-Off, the 5K Run/Walk/Roll, and Black Maverick Mixer.

Exchange any non-UTA collegiate T-shirt for a free UTA Homecoming T-shirt at MavSwap Wednesday-Thursday.

Admission is free to The Bash on Friday, but you still need a ticket.

Sports fans will find lots of action this week with volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball games, and a weekend wheelchair basketball tournament. Admissions is free for UTA students.

Saturday includes the Street Festival, Parade and Pep Rally, and The Big Game with halftime crowning of Mr. and Ms. UTA.
