Public health becomes a second career

Sofia Alcasey, Berford Moncriffe, and Laud Dei are different ages and come from different professional backgrounds. But they all share a passion for improving health outcomes in their communities.

That passion inspired them to pursue public health degrees at UTA.

Mavericks celebrate Juneteenth

UTA celebrated Juneteenth with an online discussion, trivia, and a painting session to make the Juneteenth flag. The event commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of the federal order ending slavery in the United States reached enslaved people in Galveston.

Race, health disparities discussion

The School of Social Work will host a live conversation on race, COVID-19, and health disparities at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 25. Register to join the discussion on Zoom. Watch on Facebook.

Early voting at MAC

Early voting for the July 14 Texas primary runoff election is June 29-July 2 and July 5-10 at the Maverick Activities Center. See times/days. Voters must wear masks inside the building and maintain social distancing.

Fall class schedules

Students can see which fall 2020 courses will be taught face-to-face, online, or as a hybrid of the two so they can begin planning for the upcoming academic term. Read more details.

For all students who would have lived on or near campus on April 1, please take less than 10 minutes to log on to my2020census.gov and answer 10 questions about yourself and the roommates you would have been living with on April 1.

  • June 29—Last day to drop classes for first five-week term; submit to advisor by 4 p.m.
  • July 3—Independence Day holiday; no classes; UTA closed
  • July 8—Last day of classes for first five-week term
  • July 9—Final exams for first five-week term. Last day to drop for 14-week term; submit to advisor by 4 p.m.
  • July 12—Registration ends for second five-week term
  • July 13—First day of classes for second five-week term
