Welcome events adapt for virtual activities, safe in-person experiences

Maverick Stampede—the fun start of a new semester at UTA—brings an exciting array of events and activities to students, whether on campus or online.

The MavsMeet Convocation on Tuesday, Aug. 25, the official kickoff to the academic year, is always a celebration like no other! Tune in live to hear from campus leaders, see entertainment, and win prizes.

This year includes a drive-in movie, virtual welcome events, an online edition of MavSwap to get everyone ready to sport the newest UTA gear, and much more.

Return-to-campus training for all students

All students registered for classes should complete the Fall 2020 COVID-19 Student Training in Canvas by Friday, Sept. 11.

New rules for residence halls

Students returning to University housing for the Fall 2020 semester should expect some changes to their housing, dining, and academic experience because of the coronavirus.

Student Listening Series

Watch the Student and Family Listening Sessions about the fall semester. The topics are academic plans, health and safety, and campus and student life.

New Title IX policies implemented

On August 12, The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved new Title IX and sexual misconduct policies at its member institutions, including UT Arlington, to comply with federal Title IX regulations released by the Department of Education in May of this year.

Important dates

Registration is ongoing for the fall semester.

  • Aug. 18—Final exams for 11-week and 14-week terms
  • Aug. 25—Registration ends for fall semester
  • Aug. 26—First day of class for fall semester
  • Aug. 27-31—Late registration for fall semester and first five-week and eight-week terms
  • Aug. 31—Census date for first five-week term
  • Sept. 2—Census date for first eight-week term
  • Sept. 7—Labor Day Holiday: No classes, UTA closed

Virtual job fair for student employment

Explore on- and off-campus jobs and work-study opportunities at the Virtual Student Employment Job Fair, sponsored by the Lockheed Martin Career Development Center. The fair is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24. RSVP in Handshake.

Register for events Wednesday, Aug. 19: the Virtual Fair Prep Workshop at 1 p.m. and the Navigating the Virtual Fair Workshop at 3 p.m.

'TrailBlazer' twice a week

TrailBlazer, UTA's official communication with students, is now twice a week with issues distributed Tuesdays and Fridays. Send news to trailblazer@uta.edu.

Parking permits available

Students have a variety of parking options for their on-campus permits, available through MavPark. Read about permit rates, prorated options, and refunds.

Shuttles back in action

The MavMover shuttle buses are limited to nine passengers at a time. The routes have been modified due to social distancing. Read more about shuttle service for fall.

Free masks

Reusable, washable fabric face masks for individuals are available at the Central Library, the Information Desk at the University Center, and The Commons' Information Desk. Please call 817-272-3395 for availablity.

MavSpace to end

MavSpace will no longer be available after 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31. Read more about the change.

Call Merge

Call Merge is coming soon to Microsoft Teams. This feature allows users to combine two simultaneous calls with one or more users into a single call.
