UTA closed through Wednesday

Due to extreme winter weather conditions and widespread power outages, The University of Texas at Arlington is closed, effective immediately, through Wednesday, Feb. 17.

All classes in all modalities are canceled, also effective immediately, through Wednesday. Exams also are canceled.

Limited dining services remain available at the University Center and The Commons.

Read more details on the closure. Continue to monitor uta.edu, UTA Facebook and Twitter, and Mavwire and TrailBlazer enewsletters for additional information.

Stay warm and safe during freeze

University Housing offers these tips on staying warm and safe during extreme frigid temperatures:

  • Keep your heat set at 68 degrees
  • Leave cupboards open and allow hot and cold water faucets to drip
  • Keep your phone fully charged; cell phones lose charge quickly in the cold
  • Keep your blinds shut to reduce the amount of heat lost through windows
  • Keep your doors and windows closed as much as possible
  • Electrical outages may occur, causing a loss of your heating system; the length of service disruption may vary as conditions change
  • Internet service also will be disrupted due to the electrical outages in the area
  • Have extra blankets, sweatshirts, hats, and gloves available and wear layers to increase warmth
  • Remain inside as much as possible; sidewalks and breezeways are especially slick

Visit Maverick Dining for updates about on-campus dining during the cold weather.
