Important Winter Weather Announcement & Campus Status Update - UTA Extends Closure through Feb. 21, 2021, Opening Feb. 22, 2021

Due to the impact of the recent extreme winter weather this week, The University of Texas at Arlington will remain closed through Sunday, February 21, 2021. The closure affects the UTA Research Institute in Fort Worth, the UTA Fort Worth Center, and all other UTA locations. All classes in all modalities are canceled through Feb. 21.

The UTA campus and all other UTA locations will open and resume normal operations on Monday, February 22, 2021.

  • All class modalities are scheduled to resume Monday.
  • On-campus and remote work for employees will resume Monday. Employees should contact their supervisors with specific questions about their duties or their individual circumstances.

Beginning Saturday, February 20, 2021, University Center, University Commons, Central Library, and Maverick Activities Center (MAC) are scheduled to resume normal operating hours. Please check building websites for the most updated information on operating hours and openings of these facilities.

Continue to exercise caution as some sidewalks, parking lots and garages, and roads may have remaining ice or snow, contributing to slippery conditions.

The city of Arlington boil water notice remains in effect until further notice. All individuals who are on campus or live in Arlington should boil water for at least five minutes and then allow it to cool completely before using it for drinking water, brushing teeth, cooking, etc. Users may notice reduced water pressure while the city water system recovers. The University will announce to campus when the city rescinds the boil water notice.

Electricity has been restored to campus buildings. The restoration of the University’s heating system is underway. As interior and outside temperatures increase and water is restored, there is an increased risk of pipe ruptures and leaks. Report damage and make trouble calls to UTA Facilities Management at 817-272-2000 or www.uta.edu/fixit.

UTA officials are continuing to assess the impact of the storm on campus operations. Students and employees should continue to monitor www.uta.edu, UTA Facebook and Twitter, and Mavwire and TrailBlazer University emails for additional information.
