Summer and fall semester plans

In anticipation of an improving situation, UTA is planning for the summer 2021 semester to begin with classes mostly online and the resumption of some events on campus.

Looking further ahead, we are optimistic about returning to more regular operations in fall 2021.

All adults eligible for COVID vaccine on March 29

The Texas Department of State Health Services announced that all adults will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in Texas beginning Monday, March 29. UTA students and employees are strongly encouraged to participate in COVID.

The University's COVID-19 Vaccination Information and Resources page can help you monitor public health websites for appointment availability.

Movin' Mavs add 9th title

The Movin’ Mavs claimed the National Wheelchair Basketball Association championship for the ninth time, beating Alabama 66-51 in the title game. Watch the CBS 11 report.

DeBerry in NCAA top 8

UTA's Bryson DeBerry finished in the top 8 in the nation in the high jump at the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.

Maverick Moguls

From selling delicious baked goods to launching kids to STEM success, good business ideas are easy to find in the Maverick community. The Maverick Entrepreneur Program and Award Fund provides them a boost.

Grad Finale at UTA Bookstore

Grad Finale runs through Thursday, March 25, at the UTA Bookstores for all your graduation needs, including regalia, the official UTA class rings, graduation announcements, and invitations.

Maverick Speakers Series: Vivek Wadhwa, March 25

Tech author Vivek Wadhwa kicks off new Virtual Maverick Speakers Series

After a yearlong hiatus, UT Arlington’s Maverick Speakers Series is back in a new virtual format for its 13th season.

Vivek Wadhwa, technology entrepreneur and bestselling author, kicks off the new virtual Maverick Speakers Series this month. The talk will be livestreamed at uta.edu/maverickspeakers and is free to watch.

Wadhwa will speak on “Navigating Technological Change at Light Speed” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 25. His latest book, Your Happiness Was Hacked: Why Tech is Winning the Battle to Control Your Brain—and How to Fight Back, was published in 2018.

COVID-19 testing

Free COVID-19 tests for students are available 9-11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at the Maverick Activities Center and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 435 Spaniolo Drive in the College Park District. Make an appointment.

Spirit horse design

Submit designs for the next spirit horse we put on campus. Winners receive a stipend and the chance to paint the Spirit Horse. Submissions are due Thursday, April 15.

Campus tour guides needed

MavElite tour guides are needed to show the UTA campus to prospective students, their families, school/community groups, and VIP guests. Apply through Handshake for job 4504770 by Monday, April 5.

HEERF II emergency grants

UTA can provide financial assistance through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II) to eligible students facing additional expenses due to the pandemic.

Important dates

  • March 23—Late registration for second eight-week term.
  • March 29—Census date for second eight-week term.
  • April 2—Last day to drop classes for second five-week term; submit requests to advisor prior to 4 p.m.
  • April 5—Registration begins for summer and fall 2021 semesters.
  • April 8—Last day of classes for second five-week term.
  • April 9—Final exams for second five-week term.
