Cavanagh named interim dean of Liberal Arts

Dan Cavanagh has been named interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts, effective Thursday, Sept. 2. He will fill the position vacated by Elisabeth Cawthon, who will continue at UTA as a faculty member.

Cavanagh is a professor of music and is the current Department of Music chair.


Policy update for wheels on campus

A UTA policy change requested by the Student Congress focuses on skateboards, bicycles, roller skates, hoverboards, and scooters on campus.

The updated policy, CO-CV-PO-03, concerns abandoned bicycles, where skateboards can be ridden in the street, safety equipment, prohibitions, and violations.

Parking changes set, permits available

Read about the changes for fall 2021 parking and 2021-22 parking regulations. A few highlights are:

  • Parking permits for 2021-22 are on sale now through MavPark. See the rate card.
  • Lot CWP changes from residential parking to faculty/staff lot F13.
  • Lipscomb Hall and Center Point apartment lots will close.

Other changes include seven-day permits, bike share, and new late-night escort vehicles.

UTA My Way

The UTA My Way program is open to incoming freshmen and transfer students. It features guests who share their perspectives on the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity and offers information sessions with cultural student leaders on campus.

External emails marked

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 5, emails sent from outside UTA will be marked with [External] as a reminder that the email was sent from an external sender. This serves as an added layer of protection to caution users about opening external emails. Visit the OIT website to learn more.

Teams recordings

On Saturday, Aug. 14, Microsoft will store recordings of Teams meetings in OneDrive or SharePoint and perform upgrades to Stream. This will improve access to recordings, but certain features will be temporarily unavailable. Visit the OIT website to learn more.

Network maintenance

The UTA network will undergo maintenance from 2‑7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1. Employees and students can expect intermittent interruptions to the network during the maintenance periods. For more information, please visit the OIT website.
