Congratulations, Class of 2022!

Thousands of Mavericks ready to make an impact on the world will cross the stage of College Park Center Thursday-Saturday, May 12-14, during Spring 2022 Commencement ceremonies.

UTA received more than 5,400 graduation applications for spring 2022, including 115 for doctoral candidates.

Each ceremony will be livestreamed via go.uta.edu/commencement. A virtual Commencement will be available starting Saturday, May 14.

Outstanding Academic Advisor Awards recipients were recognized in a virtual celebration this week. The winners and runners-up are:

Staff Advisor: Undergraduate—Barrie Hill, Criminal Justice, College of Liberal Arts. Runner-Up: Teaira Little, Education, College of Education.

Staff Advisor: Graduate—Valerie Adame, Social Work, School of Social Work. Runner-Up: Karolyn Field, Public Administration, College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs.

Faculty Advisor: Undergraduate—Kaci O’Donnell, English, College of Liberal Arts. Runner-Up: Linda Barasch, Computer Science, College of Engineering.

Faculty Advisor: Graduate—Gautam Eapi, Civil Engineering, College of Engineering. Runner-Up: Santoso Budiman, Business, College of Business.

Latino grads honored

Celebrando el Éxito (celebrating success) honored, recognized and celebrated Latino graduates who earned degrees in fall 2021, spring 2022 and summer 2022.

Asian Heritage Celebration

Come out to the Asian Heritage Celebration 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Levitt Pavillion in downtown Arlington. For the free event, bring your chairs, blankets, food, and drinks. Area parking is free. Food trucks will be on site.

Steam outage to start Monday

The Thermal Energy Plant has planned its annual outage of campus steam service to complete inspection and repair requirements of the system components. The outage is scheduled to begin at midnight on Monday, May 16. Normal operations should resume by 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 21.

During the time designated, the buildings served by the Thermal Energy Plant will be without hot water and steam, including heated water for the swimming pool. Electrical power, air conditioning, chilled water, and domestic cold water services will still be available.

Undergrad Exit Survey

Students graduating in May 2022 should complete the Undergraduate Exit Survey, available through Canvas. Responses are confidential. Eligible students will receive invites from gradteam@uta.edu.

Student engagement survey

First-year students and seniors who complete the National Survey of Student Engagement before Sunday, May 15, will be eligible to enter a drawing for one of 20 $100 Amazon gift cards. Eligible students can access the survey through Canvas.

Are you eligible?

UTA’s Blaze Forward program will cover 100% of tuition and fees for eligible undergrads starting in fall 2022. Grants will be automatically applied with no additional application required. Learn more about eligibility at go.uta.edu/blaze-forward.

Student non-payment process

Starting this fall, UTA will no longer drop students from courses for non-payment. Instead, students automatically will be placed on a payment plan to allow them to remain enrolled. The process does not apply to Accelerated Online programs. Read the announcement.

Important dates

  • May 10—Last day of classes for second eight-week term and third five-week term.
  • May 11—Final exams for second eight-week term and third five-week term.
  • May 12-14—Commencement ceremonies.
  • May 15—Registration ends for summer intersession, summer 14-week term, and first seven-week term.
  • May 16—First day of classes for summer summer intersession, 14-week term, and first seven-week term.
  • May 16-17—Late registration for 14-week term and first seven-week term.
  • May 17—Census date for summer intersession.
  • May 19—Census date for first seven-week term.
  • May 24—Last day to drop classes for summer intersession; submit requests to advisor prior to 4 p.m.
  • May 30—Memorial Day holiday.
  • May 31—Last day of classes for summer intersession.
  • June 1—Final exams for summer intersession.
