Excessive heat warning

Stay safe during excessive heat

Excessive heat warnings and heat advisories have been posted for North Texas and parts of Central Texas through Wednesday, July 20, by the National Weather Service.

The air temperatures will climb to 105 to 110 degrees in the warning area, with heat index values over 105 degrees in the advisory area.

Avoid extended time outdoors, stay hydrated, and know the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses. Never leave children or pets in a vehicle. Read tips on how to stay cool, what to do during extreme heat, and how to recognize the signs and symptoms of heat stroke and heat exhaustion at weather.gov/safety/heat.

Limit electrical use 2-9 p.m., when temperatures are highest. The Public Utility Commission of Texas offers more tips on reducing your electrical usage during the heat wave.
