UTA named Best for Vets

Once again, UTA has been recognized as one of the best universities in the country for veterans and military-connected students. UTA was ranked No. 1 in both the Southwest and Texas and No. 4 nationally on the Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2022 list.

Tops in student access, success

U.S. News & World Report has placed UT Arlington among the top institutions in the nation in categories for student access and success, according to its 2022-2023 Best Colleges rankings.

Police training at stadium

A police training exercise involving officers from UT Arlington and North Richland Hills is scheduled for 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Sept. 14-16, at Maverick Stadium. The training includes yelling and simulated firearms (paint bullets). No live weapons will be used.

Leadership retreat

Register today, Tuesday, Sept. 13, for the Follett Student Leadership Center’s Leadership Retreat. This off-campus retreat allows students to learn more about who they are as leaders and build their personal leadership skills. The retreat is Friday-Sunday, Sept. 30-Oct. 2.

Ring Week is coming

Choose your class ring from a wide selection during Ring Week at the UTA Bookstore. Hours for Ring Week are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, Sept. 19-21. A virtual ring event for online students will be hosted through Zoom for online students noon-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22. Details for the virtual event will be made available on the Commencement website.

Sling mud at Oozeball

Register your team or as an individual player for Oozeball by Monday, Sept. 19. The mud volleyball games are 1-6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the corner of Summit Avenue and Fourth Street.

Student Government needs you

Student Government is looking for new members to fill a variety of positions as well as run for office in the upcoming Campus Elections.

The FabLab expansion in the Central Library includes resources for music, photography, animation, robotics and electronics, and gaming.

Conservation scholarship

The Arlington Conservation Council has established an endowment for scholarships and research at UTA that foster a sustainable future.

Presidential investiture

Join fellow Mavericks for the formal inauguration of UTA's 10th president, Jennifer Cowley, at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at College Park Center. A festival reception on Spaniolo Drive will immediately follow the event. An RSVP is appreciated but not required.

Graduate School Expo

Thinking about graduate school? Come to the Graduate School Expo, a free, come-and-go fair that provides a chance to chat with representatives from graduate programs from UTA and other Texas universities and institutions. The expo is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Power Up + Tech Up aids transfer students

Show your appreciation for supporters

No matter how you say it, give a big "Thank You" to the friends, supporters, and donors who contribute to UTA's excellence and be part of a video shown at an upcoming event for donors.

Record a video of you saying “Thank You” to show our friends and supporters love from the Maverick family. Individuals, groups, departments, or as many folks as you can fit into the image space can give a shoutout.

No fancy planning needed. Simply click on the link, follow the directions, look into the camera on your computer, and say "Thank You!" There are plenty of opportunities to rerecord if you aren't happy with your first attempts. Once you are happy with your video, please make sure you hit the "submit video" button and fill in your contact information. You will get an email confirmation that your video was sent.

Research Opportunities

COVID-19 student survey

Students are encouraged to take a survey on their perspectives on COVID‑19's influence on faculty policies and course agendas, the ability to obtain accommodations, and student success in the learning environment. This survey is being conducted as part of a Disability Studies Minor internship supervised by the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence. Take the survey.

Military PTSD survey

Military-connected students are needed for a survey by the School of Social Work. The study is to better understand the factors, elements, and turning points that contribute to a military loss or trauma becoming a personal post-traumatic growth experience that results in a transformation outcome of helping others. Read more details and complete the participation application.
