Maverick Speakers Series: Carla Hall

Join UTA for "An Inspiring Evening with Carla Hall" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Texas Hall as part of the Maverick Speakers Series. Hall, celebrity chef, TV personality, and author, competed on Bravo's Top Chef and Top Chef: All Stars, spent seven years co-hosting ABC's Emmy-winning series The Chew, and is currently featured in the Food Network shows Thanksgiving, Holiday, and Halloween Baking Championships and Worst Cooks in America.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

UTA's Office for Cultural Engagement and Social Change has helped plan a variety of events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

'The Fluid Taco'

Mark your calendar to hear José R. Ralat, Texas Monthly's taco editor, speak on "The Fluid Taco: The adaptive tortilla in the United States of America," 12-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, as part of the Center for Mexican American Studies' speaker series.

New class record

For the sixth year in a row, UTA has enrolled the most first-time-in-college students in University history. A total of 4,463 first-time college students enrolled at UT Arlington for fall 2022, an increase of nearly 300 students over the previous year.

STEM workforce

Through programs that support students from underrepresented groups, College of Science professors are investing in the diversification of the nation’s STEM-talented workforce.

Big Tex Scholarship Program

Seven new Mavericks have benefitted from the State Fair of Texas’ Big Tex Scholarship Program, which provides scholarship to Dallas Independent School District high schools in the Fair Park area to receive the annual scholarships.

Hispanic Media Conference

UT Arlington hosted its annual Hispanic Media Conference over the weekend, bringing together media experts and students to uncover how the industry is evolving and develop new professional skills.

Maverick ring

Choose your class ring from a wide selection during Ring Week at the UTA Bookstore. Hours for Ring Week are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. through Wednesday, Sept. 21. A virtual ring event is available by appointment through Zoom for online students noon-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22.

Student Organization Fair

Do you want to get involved but aren’t sure where to start? Come to the Student Organization Fair noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, on the University Center mall and find out about the different opportunities available on campus.

Got a startup idea?

All you need is a startup idea, no matter how small, or a prototype, no matter how rough, to apply for the Blackstone Ideas Competition and a chance to win $1,000. Apply by Saturday, Oct. 1.

Service Saturday a success

More than 240 volunteers and 35 site leaders took part in the annual Super Service Saturday event, held Sept. 10. Students, faculty, and staff from UTA spent the day volunteering for community service projects with local organizations across the city.

Graduate School Expo

Thinking about graduate school? Come to the Graduate School Expo, a free come-and-go fair that provides a chance to chat with representatives from graduate programs from UTA and other Texas universities and institutions. The expo is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Presidential investiture

Join fellow Mavericks for the formal inauguration of UTA's 10th president, Jennifer Cowley, at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at College Park Center. A festival reception on Spaniolo Drive will immediately follow the event. An RSVP is appreciated but not required.

Get dirty at Oozeball

Check out one of UTA's messiest traditions: Oozeball. The mud volleyball games are 1-6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the corner of Summit Avenue and Fourth Street.
