Cowley formally inaugurated Friday

UTA President Jennifer Cowley was conferred the official authority and symbols of the UTA presidency at a formal investiture ceremony on Sept. 30, where she told the Maverick community that now is the time to dream big.

Seal of Excellencia, Intentionally Serving Latinos. Excelencia in Education!

Seal of Excelencia

UT Arlington is one of just six institutions nationwide this year to earn the Seal of Excelencia certification, a prestigious honor granted to colleges and universities for their commitment to accelerating Latino student success.

The certification comes from Excelencia in Education, a national authority on promoting Latino student success in higher education.

Pride Month

UTA celebrates Pride Month in October with LGBTQ+ Mavericks and allies by planning events and showing support for the LGBTQ+ community.

National Night Out is tonight

The UTA Police Department will host National Night Out 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Brazos Park. The event includes free food, prizes, activities, and demonstrations related to public safety. Bring canned food donations for the Maverick Pantry and receive an extra ticket for prize drawings.

Noise control award

Manya Singh, mechanical engineering senior, has earned the Leo Beranek Student Medal for Excellence in the Study of Noise Control from the Institute of Noise Control Engineering of the USA.

Veterans helping veterans

After serving their country, veterans at UTA have turned their service-first energy toward each other, working arm in arm as they journey through life after the military.

Fresh Check Day

Make it to a mental health check-in at Fresh Check Day 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, on the Library mall. The event features interactive booths focused on emotional and mental health awareness, free food, prizes, and more.

UTA's Green Fund featured

Fort Worth Report covered the popularity of green funds, noting that UTA became the first major university in Tarrant County to pass a green fund and plans to institute the fee in fall 2023.

The Woman King

'The Woman King' screening, panel discussion

Reserve a seat at a screening of The Woman King followed by a panel discussion on the film's importance in popular culture and Hollywood. The screening starts at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at LOOK Dine-In Cinemas, 5727 West I-20 in Arlington.

Panelists are Provost Tamara Brown; Kiva Harper, associate professor of practice in social work; and Bethany Wood, assistant professor of social work. The School of Social Work sponsors the event.

Indigenous Peoples Day, Oct. 10

Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration

UT Arlington celebrates Indigenous Peoples Day 3-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10.

A forum on "Being Indigenous at UTA" begins at 3 p.m., followed by a ribbon cutting for the Land Acknowledgement Courtyard, north of the Central Library, and the unveiling of a bronze plaque and monument.

On the sixth floor of the library is a Native American food tasting at 5 p.m. and a talk on "Native Circles: Sustaining Ties to HomeLand" at 6 p.m.

The exhibit Native Now, includes artifacts, artwork, and items from Special Collections.

Parent and Family Weekend, Oct. 21-23, 2022

File for campus elections

Put your name on the ballot for the fall campus elections by Thursday, Oct. 6. Open positions are Homecoming king and queen, Student Senate, UTA Ambassadors, and the Student Service Fee Allocation Committee members.
