Destress for Finals

Take a break from finals and relax

Destress about final exams with a little help from friends around campus.

Renew, Relax, Revive offers a chance to learn mindfulness and practice meditation to effectively manage stress 12:45-1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in room 310 of Ransom Hall.

Destress with the Libraries is a study break with hot tea, meditation, and mandala coloring. Grab some free scantrons and other relaxation swag 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in classroom 109 of the Central Library.

Late Night Breakfast provides a study break and nourishment for your brain and body 9:30-11 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, Dec. 7-8, at the Connection Cafe in the University Center.

Libraries' Holiday Bash has treats and hot chocolate as you craft ornaments and holiday decor for home noon-3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, on the first floor of the Central Library.

NASA recognized in resolution

Tarrant County Commissioner Devan Allen recently passed a resolution recognizing Tarrant County Native American Heritage Month for the first time.

Present for the resolution were current and former members of UTA’s Native American Student Association (NASA), the longest continuously running student group in Texas that supports Native American interests; the group’s faculty advisor, Les Riding-In; and Native American community members.

The Native American Heritage Month presentation starts around 13:15 in the Commissioners Court video.

New MavPlanner, MavScheduler available in MyMav Dec. 1

Beginning Thursday, Dec. 1, MyMav will feature MavPlanner and MavScheduler to allow students and academic advisors to create a personalized multiyear degree plan directly in MyMav.

This update replaces the third-party Degree Map Solution and Smart Scheduling Tool. Access MavPlanner, which includes MavScheduler, by logging into MyMav and selecting the “Manage Classes” tile to start mapping your path to graduation.

FAFSA Night

Don't miss the FAFSA Night workshop 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid application event is at the Educational Opportunity Center at 400 S. Davis Street at Greek Row Drive. For details, email eoc@uta.edu.

Grateful gathering

The campus-wide Thanksgiving feast brought together students, faculty, and staff for a night full of food and giving thanks.

Donation drive

Help the Women's Faculty and Staff Network's donation drive to benefit Tarrant County's SafeHaven through Friday, Dec. 9. Donations can be made online or at two locations on campus.

Holiday glass sale

The Holiday Glass Art Pre-Sale is open for departments, faculty, staff, and students 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Studio Arts Center. Bring your UTA ID. A sale open to the public with demonstrations is 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.

Holiday Lights Parade

Bring friends and family to downtown for the annual Arlington Holiday Lights Parade Saturday, Dec. 10. Before the parade are reindeer games at the George W. Hawkes Library, events at the Levitt Pavilion, and pictures with Santa.

Health Services recommends getting vaccinated to be protected against the flu. Call 817‑272‑2771 to schedule your free flu shot.

Holiday concerts

Experience Maverick music for the holidays. Holiday Jubilation: University Singers and Symphonic Winds Holiday Concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Texas Hall. The UTA A Cappella Choir Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in Irons Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Building. Tickets for both are $7 for students and seniors and $10 for adults.

Dance in Flux

Maverick Dance Company presents Dance in Flux, a collection of new, entertaining, and progressive dance works by faculty, guest, and student choreographers. The show is Friday-Sunday, Dec. 2-4, on the Mainstage Theatre in the Fine Arts Building.

Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition

Works by 38 graduating seniors are showcased in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition Monday, Dec. 5-Friday, Dec. 16, in the Gallery at UTA in the Fine Arts Building.

Holiday shows come to CPC, Texas Hall

Two holiday events are headed to campus in December.

The World Ballet Series' The Nutcracker brings the Christmas classic to Texas Hall Friday, Dec. 9.

Join Peppa Pig and her friends on an exciting trip in the winter woods at Peppa Pig's Adventure at College Park Center Monday, Dec. 26.
