UTA worth the drive

For Yazmin Silva, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UTA is so important that she has been willing to make a six-hour, same-day roundtrip commute along the Texas border to complete her required clinical hours. She does so while balancing single parenthood and a full-time job teaching high school Spanish.

Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship

Nine earn top fellowships

Nine students have received coveted Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowships from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The students come from UTA’s College of Engineering; College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs; and College of Business.

Bridge competition

STEM summer research

All undergraduate students at UTA are eligible to participate in the Department of Kinesiology's Summer Undergraduate Research Program in Integrative Physiology. The 10-week program aims to get students interested in STEM-related research.

Conference proposals wanted

The Office for Cultural Engagement and Social Change invites faculty, staff, and students to submit a session, poster, or workshop proposal for the Social Change Conference, a hybrid event on Friday, March 31. Submission deadline is Friday, Jan. 27.

The Activity Fair Day is a prime opportunity to meet face-to-face with campus and community resources and begin or expand your co-curricular involvement. Find the Maverick Involvement Team table for a free UTA T-shirt! The fair is 10 a.m.-1:30 Wednesday, Jan. 25, on the University Center mall.

Microsoft Teams is updating the meeting toolbar to make navigating meetings and accessing new features easier. Users may notice changes in their meeting toolbar, including a dedicated raise-hand button, a view button, and menu subgroups.

Policy and Procedure Updates

BF-T-PR-04 Student Group and Organization Travel Procedure—Updates were made to meal expense options. Specifically, information on paying with a travel cash advance and a University-issued travel card were added for U.S. and international travel.

CO-CS-PO-02 Weapons on Campus & Concealed Carry Policy—This policy was updated to clarify that the Firearm Carry Act does not apply to university campuses. In addition, the name was changed from “Concealed Carry and Weapons on Campus.”
