The College of Education has been preparing educators and serving local schools since 1963. It was first established within the College of Liberal Arts as the “Teacher Education Section” of the Department of Psychology.

Why did you choose to attend UTA?
I am a transfer student and the process enrolling to UTA was very smooth. Everyone was welcoming at orientation and it made my decision easy.
What is your favorite thing about the College of Education at UTA?
There is many different areas of certification which allows students to be a part of what they truly love.
Who is your favorite professor? Why?
Alicia Garza. She was my Spanish 1441 professor and she is so thoughtful and encouraging. She made me want to class every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
What activities do you participate in outside of class?
I am also a Peer Leader, Transfer Orientation Leader and apart of Tau Sigma.
What are your plans after you graduate?
I plan to teach high school English and eventually get my Masters in School Counseling.
What is the one thing you think a prospective Education student needs to know?
Education is always developing and rearranging to fit the needs for students in the present, if you put the work in you can get whatever you want out of this field.
