We offer undergraduate degrees through our Curriculum and Instruction Department.

Curriculum and Instruction

Elementary Education Bilingual and ESL

The Elementary Education Bilingual Program prepares bilingual candidates to provide instruction in EC-6 bilingual or dual language classrooms. The ESL program provides elementary school teacher candidates with strategies for providing instruction to students whose native language is not English. On-campus coursework is closely linked to field placements and student teaching in bilingual or multi-lingual partner school classrooms.

Middle-Level Education

The Middle-Level Education Program candidates choose to receive certification in one of three program tracks: 1) 4-8 English Language Arts and Reading and Social Studies, 2) 4-8 Math and Science, and 3) 4-8 Generalist. Middle-Level coursework is closely connected to extensive field experiences and student teaching in middle-level partner school classrooms.

Secondary Education

Secondary education teacher candidates receive all of their content coursework in their major department. The grades 7-12 or all-level secondary education program provides candidates with coursework in adolescent growth and development, instructional technology, reading and writing in the content areas, classroom organization and management, applications of instruction, and teaching diverse populations. Coursework is closely tied to early field experiences and student teaching in partner school classrooms.
