Office of the President, UTA

September 9, 2020

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

We are writing today to provide you with an update about the University’s efforts to plan for the Spring 2021 Semester. Our Spring Academic and Course Planning Taskforce is working to develop a plan that will guide a safe and healthy Spring 2021 Semester.

This week, the Provost’s Office began contacting Deans and Chairs to start developing schedules and course modalities for the spring term, which begins in January.

The University is preparing for several possibilities, including the potential for Spring 2021 to be conducted with a mix of online, in-person, and hybrid courses, similar to the Fall 2020 semester.

Our response to this pandemic requires us to remain nimble and adjust as necessary, while following the recommendations of experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the State of Texas, and The University of Texas System. We will continue to emphasize the need to be flexible and are ready to adjust course delivery based on prevailing health conditions and guidance.

With this guidance in place, we will continue our mission of providing an excellent education for our students while taking necessary precautions to keep our community safe.

We will continue to provide updates to you as planning for the Spring term progresses. Until then, stay safe, stay healthy, and Mav Up!

Sincerely,

Teik C. Lim, Ph.D.
President ad interim

Pranesh Aswath, Ph.D.
Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
