A Message from Jennifer Cowley, Ph.D., incoming UTA president

February 25, 2022

Dear UTA community,

I look forward to officially joining you on campus this April. In advance of my arrival, it is important we begin the process of filling several of the University’s senior leadership positions. That’s why I am pleased to announce that today we are launching a national search for UTA’s next Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.

As the University’s chief academic officer, the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is charged with realizing UTA’s central mission of promoting and achieving academic excellence. This role is critical to our collaborative efforts to sustain and advance UTA’s position as a destination for world-class education and research.

A webpage for the open Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs role has been established. There, you will find more details on the position, as well as opportunities to share your input on the search and nominate qualified individuals. I look forward to your help in identifying candidates who match UTA’s commitment to student, staff, and faculty success. We invite and encourage you to utilize this website to lend your voice to this process.

We have established a 20-member Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Search Committee to guide the search process and develop a strong and diverse pool of candidates. The search committee is chaired by James Grover, dean of the Graduate School and interim vice president for research, and is composed of faculty and staff representatives from across campus. I want to express in advance my appreciation to the committee members for volunteering their time and expertise, as well as sharing their perspectives to support the search for this critical position at UTA.

This is the first of several searches we expect to launch in the coming months, and I’ll let you know as each one gets underway. The executive searches website is a great source for updates on the various search processes as they emerge.

Thank you in advance for your partnership in this search process.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Cowley, Ph.D.
President-Designate
