The spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) is having a profound effect on everyone’s lives, at The University of Texas at Arlington and around the globe.
UTA cares deeply about the health and safety of its Maverick family, especially when it comes to addressing the emerging challenges posed by the spread of COVID-19. As UTA responds to this rapidly changing issue, the focus remains on the well-being of all students, faculty, and staff.
Please read UTA’s full response to these events on the Coronavirus Updates website. The following measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the University community:
- This week, it was announced that the University will conduct online instruction beginning March 23 and for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester.
- All students have been asked to stay at home and/or return home and access facilities online. Living in campus residence halls and participating in campus dining programs will be limited to students who do not have a suitable alternative.
- All UTA staff and faculty have been strongly encouraged to remain at home and telecommute where possible.
- All campus tours, events, and activities through the end of the spring semester, including alumni events, have been canceled. UTA spring 2020 commencement ceremonies are also postponed.
During this time of uncertainty, many are asking themselves how best to help others. One way in which you can help is by assisting UTA students who are affected by the disruption and unforeseen circumstances caused by the coronavirus. If you’d like to support UTA students in need, please consider making a gift to the Emergency Assistance Fund.
This is a challenging and extraordinary time and it’s of the utmost importance that we take care of ourselves, our families, and our communities. Thank you for your kindness and generosity during these unprecedented circumstances.
