Copyright conference covers basics, targets educators

Sign up now for a two-day conference on copyrights Friday-Saturday, Oct. 28-29. The first day covers basic intellectual property rights, fair use, public access, and federal mandates. The second day is a two-hour workshop targeting education professionals. Register separately for the Friday and the Saturday workshops.

Park South garage to close for event

The lower level of College Park South must be cleared at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 25 for a private event. All vehicles parked on the lower level must relocate to another area of the garage or other permitted zones, or be towed at owners expense. The entire garage will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 26 for a private event. Both College Park North and College Park Central will remain open during these events. Policy Update

UTA Policy 6-950, Academy of Distinguished Scholars, has been updated and published in the Handbook of Operating Procedures.

The goals of the Academy are to advocate the importance of research and creative activity, to create an appropriate reward structure for scholars, to promote a sense of community among scholars, to serve as role models, to foster research and creative activity, and to advise the institution on research policies and practices.

The policy has been updated to clarify membership, terms, and responsibilities. All questions about the policy should be directed to the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.


Make requests for Radio Preventative Maintenance Week

During the week of Nov. 14, all University radios and base units will receive preventative maintenance. If your department has not been contacted with a date, time, and location for this service, contact Trisha Alexander at latrisha.alexander@uta.edu. The deadline to request maintenance on radios and base units is Monday, Oct. 28.


Candidates for CAAS director on campus

Candidates for director of the Center for African American Studies will give presentations and meet with faculty, staff, and students. Candidates are:

  • Stefan Bradley, St. Louis University, 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, second floor lounge, Maverick Activities Center.
  • Jason Shelton, UTA, 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, Room B150, Student Congress Chambers, E.H. Hereford University Center.

Unit Effectiveness Process Improvement Reports due Nov. 4

Unit Effectiveness Process Improvement Reports need to be completed in TracDat and submitted to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Reporting (IER). See the IER training webpage for TracDat refresher training sessions.

It is important that Improvement Reports are submitted by the deadline as UTA prepares for its onsite reaccreditation visit by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
