December graduates set record for third year

For the third straight year, UTA will graduate a record number of degreed students by the completion of the 2016-17 academic year. Candidates for graduation will receive their degrees during winter commencement ceremonies Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 15-17, at College Park Center. See the Commencement schedule. LEARN MORE.


Tickets still available for Tuesday's event

Tickets to see Stephen Breyer, associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, are available at utatickets.com. The special edition of the Maverick Speakers Series has an earlier start time of 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Texas Hall. The lecture will focus on his new book, The Court and the World: American Law and the New Global Realities, which examines the reasons an increasingly globalized world obliges the court to consider circumstances beyond American borders. Policy updated on classified employees

Policy 5-525, Discipline and Dismissal of Classified Employees, is now published and available in the Handbook of Operating Procedures at uta.edu/policy/hop/5-525. This policy addresses the process for disciplinary action, including termination, of classified employees and the employees' appeal rights. Policy 5-525 replaces UTA Procedure 3-27.


Provost candidate forums today, Tuesday

Candidates for provost and vice president for academic affairs will have separate sessions open to the University community at 3 p.m. today, Monday, Dec. 12, and 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, both in Room 108 of University Hall. Each candidate will speak and then answer questions.

Staff Advisory Council meeting Tuesday afternoon

Parking Director Greg Hladik is the guest speaker at the Staff Advisory Council meeting at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the upper level Student Congress Chambers in the E. H. Hereford University Center.


University Club hosts holiday buffet Thursday

The University Club's Executive Chef E. David Aldape will host a holiday buffet for faculty and staff 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.

The menu includes turkey breast, roast beef, dressing, garlic mashed potatoes, broccoli rice risotto, parmesan carrots, baked apple and sweet potato, caesar salad, ambrosia, and a grilled vegetable platter.

Free class uses foam roller for fitness tool

The UTA Wellness Committee and Airrosti host a free foam roller exercise class 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, in Room 102B of the Maverick Activities Center. RSVP online; lunch provided.
