Goolsby Scholars
Goolsby Scholars experience a diverse set of activities targeted toward developing the skills necessary to become influential business and community leaders. There are no fees associated with program participation. Program activities and benefits include:
Innovative Leadership Classes
- Participants benefit from involvement in six leadership courses specifically designed for the Scholars Program: Leadership Development (LSHP 4110), Leader As Communicator (LSHP 4311), Ethics, Leadership, and Personal Integrity (LSHP 4312), Senior Executive Leadership (LSHP 4313), Leadership in Context (LSHP 4314) and Executive Internship (LHSP 4315). These courses are designed to increase self-awareness, emotional competence, personal integrity and authentic leadership. These courses count towards Business School electives.
- Scholars will also participate in a one credit seminar on Leadership Development (LSHP 4110) where they will receive training on important career management skills to facilitate the transition from the academic community to the work environment. During the LSHP 4110 class, participants prepare a personal leadership action plan that details developmental activities and goals for improving competencies.
- Participants are also eligible for the Certificate in Personal and Organizational Leadership.
Personal Assessments
- Assessments of personality, leadership style, emotional intelligence and cognitive ability provide scholars with individualized reports of their leadership strengths and weaknesses.
Honors College Membership
- The Honors College is a supportive, educationally and culturally diverse community of faculty and student scholars in which students achieve excellence in academics, research, service and individual development, leading to professional success and personal fulfillment.
- Students are offered academic advising services which complement and enhance those available in their major degree programs. Other services provided by the Honors College include: competitive scholarship support, research assistantships, study abroad experiences, reading room and computer lab, extended library privileges, and early registration.
- As a member of the Honors College you will earn an Honors degree, receive Honors designation on your transcript, and receive special recognition at commencement.
