Goolsby Scholars Bring Johnson & Johnson Leader to Campus
October 20, 2008 - Alan LeBlanc, an executive with Johnson & Johnson, will talk about ethical leadership with the medical company’s principles as a jumping-off point for discussion at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in room 101 of College Hall, 503 W. Third St. The speech, sponsored by the Goolsby Scholars, is free and open to the public.
LeBlanc will address how the $61 billion company has grown its sales and market share for 123 consecutive years in an ethical way.
“The Goolsby Leadership Academy at UT Arlington is able to draw such beacons of ethical leadership in the business world like Alan Leblanc because anyone who knows the Academy and what it stands for knows that the future ethical business leaders in the country and perhaps the world are sitting in the Goolsby classrooms,” said Andy Hines, a Goolsby Scholar and UT Arlington student.
LeBlanc started as a sales representative with Johnson & Johnson in 1984. His latest post with the company has been as regional corporate account director for Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems. In his current role, his job is to coordinate the efforts of the individual Johnson & Johnson franchises at Texas Health Resources in Arlington and the Baylor Health Care System in Dallas. He spent the first 10 years of his career as a naval aviator in the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Goolsby Leadership Academy, established in 2003, is designed to transform a select group of students into future leaders. The program offers rigorous study in: developing leadership skills, decision making, emotional competence and motivation, ethics, personal integrity, character development, goal-setting, self-measurement, performance measurement, group dynamics and team building.
