**U.T. Arlington’s policy on Ws pursuant to SB1231 passed by the Texas Legislature: “Effective immediately, all students admitted to UTA prior to Fall 2007
and transfer students admitted who began their college work prior to Fall 2007 will not have a limit on the number of drops throughout their academic career. Freshman,
defined as a student who enrolls in a public institution of higher education as a first-time freshman in Fall 2007 or later will be limited to six dropped courses during the
course of their academic career. This applies to UTA course work and course work completed at other Texas public institutions.”
5. When do I apply for graduation?
I suggest applying at the beginning of your senior year. Before filing, check with the advisor in order to make sure that you will be eligible to graduate – the filing fee is non-refundable and you will lose your money if the application is declined. File electronically at https://www.uta.edu/ro/graduation/login.php. For graduation deadlines see http://wweb.uta.edu/ses/recordsandregistration/content/student_services/graduation.aspx.
6. How do I register using My Mav?
For directions, see http://wweb.uta.edu/business/ugadvise/pdf_files/mymav_broc.pdf.
7. I have not yet been accepted into the philosophy program, and my major is currently listed as “Philosophy Intended”. How do I become a full major?
Requirements for being admitted into the program are: (1) completing 30 hours of core with 30 hours at U.T. Arlington or 40 hours of core with 12 hours at U.T. Arlington with an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater and (2) passing PHIL 2311. When you have satisfied those requirements, please notify the advisor.
8. I don’t understand the different categories of academic standing. What is the difference between warning, probation, continuance, and dismissal?

9. What is grade exclusion? Am I eligible? How do I apply?

10. How do I arrange to receive credit from AP exams, and how do my scores correlate with hours earned?
See http://www.uta.edu/universitycollege/prospective/testing-services/credit-by-examination/index.php
11. What is the UT Arlington equivalency of courses I am transferring from another college?
See the Transfer Equivalency Guide at http://www.uta.edu/admissions/equivalency.php
12. Why aren't my relevant transfer courses allocated toward the core curriculum requirements on the UMAP?
In many cases, transfer credits are not assigned UTA course equivalencies but are listed as, for example, ENGLTRAN 1000 or BIOLTRAN 1000. When this happens, MY MAV does not allocate the courses, and your core requirements remain unsatisfied. If you are in this situation, contact the advisor. After you have been fully admitted into the program, your advisor may file a course directive form requesting that the courses be correctly allocated.
