Office of the Provost - The University of Texas at Arlington

June 16, 2020

Dear Students,

As part of our planning for the “new normal” at The University of Texas at Arlington, we are entering the fall semester in a hybrid teaching format, with a mixture of in-person and online learning. We continue working on a plan that encourages social distancing and provides the safest environment for you and the rest of our Maverick community.

We know you need to begin planning for the upcoming academic term. That’s why we have prepared a master list of Fall 2020 courses that details which courses will be taught face-to-face, online or as a hybrid of the two in order to comply with national, state and local rules concerning the pandemic, and to ensure our campus community is able to continue our teaching and learning while remaining safe.

You’ll eventually be able to see these details in MyMav, but for now the information is available on our website.

A couple caveats that you should know: Some of this information is subject to change as UTA works through how to allocate classroom space that accounts for appropriate distancing. Some classes may change formats, depending on the specific needs of the course.

I know you’ll have questions, and I encourage you to contact your advisor with specific inquiries about your course planning.

To be clear, this master list of Fall 2020 courses will not replace the MyMav Schedule. Instead it is a tool to allow you and your advisors to begin planning more robustly for the fall while we incorporate these changes into the official MyMav schedule.

As chair of UTA’s Fall Academic and Course Planning Task Force, I can assure you the University continues developing an academic plan for a safe resumption of in-person classes and activities in the fall. We have approximately 80 faculty and staff members across five subgroups tackling different aspects of these complex problems – all with the goal of providing you with the best possible educational experience.

We are committed to making the best decisions for your education and appreciate the flexibility and perseverance that you model during these unusual times. Thank you for all you do, and go Mavs!

Regards,

Pranesh Aswath, Ph.D.
