Bivalent COVID‑19 boosters, flu vaccines available on campus Friday, Nov. 4

UTA will host a vaccine clinic on campus 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, to provide students, faculty, and staff convenient, free access to the bivalent COVID-19 booster dose recommended by the CDC. Flu vaccines will also be available and can be received in tandem with a COVID‑19 booster dose.

The clinic, operated in partnership with Walmart, will be held in room 102A in the Maverick Activities Center and exclusively serve members of the UTA community. No appointment is required.

COVID-19 boosters are free, regardless of insurance status.

Flu vaccines are free with insurance. The cost without insurance is $25, payable by cash or check. Walmart is offering this price exclusively at UTA's clinic. Prices at Walmart clinics will vary.

UTA students can also receive their flu vaccine through UTA Health Services. Call 817-272-2771 to schedule your free flu shot.

The Friday, Nov. 4, on-campus clinic will exclusively offer the bivalent booster. If you have not yet received your primary COVID‑19 vaccine doses but would like to, please enter your zip code into the CDC’s COVID‑19 Vaccine Finder to find a readily available vaccine near you.

Bivalent booster eligibility

The bivalent booster protects against both the original virus that causes COVID‑19 and Omicron variants. The CDC recommends that you receive one bivalent booster if it has been at least two months since your last COVID‑19 vaccine dose, whether that was your final primary series dose or an original (monovalent) booster. People who have had more than one original (monovalent) booster are also recommended to get a bivalent (updated) booster.

If you do not presently qualify for a bivalent booster shot, please continue to monitor the CDC’s guidelines for updates.
