TrailBlazer Guidelines

Mission

TrailBlazer is the official University-wide electronic newsletter for students.

TrailBlazer's mission is to keep the University's students informed about their campus, to instill a sense of pride in the achievements of the institution, and to be the primary source of official information pertaining to the campus environment at the University.

Frequency and Distribution

TrailBlazer is published by the Department of University Communications and is distributed to current students via email every Tuesday during the fall and spring semesters and every other Tuesday during the summer terms, except for holidays.

All students receive TrailBlazer. Students may not choose to opt out of this communication.

Policies

A. Submitting Items to TrailBlazer

Submit information or suggestions to trailblazer@uta.edu.

If needed, include hyperlinks to relevant web sites or a flyer or PDF with more information. Include the essential information — who, what, where, when, costs, registration, deadlines, and contact information.

Please also utilize the UTA Events Calendar or submit to The Shorthorn student newspaper or to communication personnel for your school or college for their internal publications.

B. Editing

Any item submitted may be edited for clarity, style, and space consideration.

C. Editorial Considerations

The final decision for any item to be included rests solely with University Communications.

D. TrailBlazer Extra

TrailBlazer Extra will be used only for major breaking news or information that needs to be disseminated to the University community immediately. The vice president for University Communications or designee will make decisions on issuing a TrailBlazer Extra in consultation with the president or provost, as necessary.
