The Shorthorn

Long before UTA was UTA, there was The Shorthorn—though it was a little different back then. Originally conceived as a literary/humor magazine, The Shorthorn received its name from a contest with a $2.50 prize attached. The Shorthorn emerged victorious over such suggestions as KornKob, Horse Sense, and Tool. The first issue was a 48-page booklet with a bull’s-eye on the cover.
