Internship Program

The Department of History has a limited number of undergraduate internship opportunities available for high performing students interested in expanding their educational experience to include hands-on work and training at local museums, archives, and non-profit organizations.

Qualifications:

History Majors who will have achieved Senior standing (90 hours of course work) by the start of their internship semester and who meet the following benchmarks:

  • Completed HIST 3300: “Introduction to Historical Research” and HIST 4395: “History Seminar” with grades of at least a “B” [for majors declared after 1/1/19]
  • Minimum 3.75 GPA in History courses (3.50 GPA overall) *
  • Completion of at one or more non-survey courses relevant to the placement institution
  • Letter of recommendation from a departmental faculty member willing to serve as mentor and instructor of record for the internship

* = with the approval of the sponsoring faculty member, students may petition to waive the GPA requirements

  • African American Museum of Dallas
  • Dallas Holocaust and Genocide Museum
  • Greater Southwest Studies Center
  • National Medal of Honor Museum
  • Old Red Museum (Dallas)
  • Sixth Floor Museum (Dallas)
  • UTA Special Collections
  • Tarrant County Probate Court 1 [only available to Legal History Track Majors]
