Instructional Classes


CPR/AED/First Aid Classes

These classes each consist of a single five-hour class, covering the American Red Cross first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, environmental emergencies, adult CPR and AED use. Participants who successfully complete the class will receive an American Red Cross certification card valid for two years. Sign up today at the Services and Information Desk at the MAC, cost is $50.

Classes are limited to 8 participants with a minimum of 4 for the class to make.

NSCA-CPT Prep Course

This is a 6-week course that will meet twice per week for 1.5 hours each. It is designed to prepare future fitness professionals for the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Certified Personal Trainer designation. The NSCA is a worldwide authority on strength and conditioning and evidence-based coaching and fitness practices. They support and disseminate research-based knowledge and its practical application to improve athletic performance and fitness. The NSCA is one of the most prestigious organizations in the fitness and strength communities and they offer top-notch certifications, life-long learning, and educational opportunities for serious fitness professionals, trainers, and coaches. This course will be designed in a manner to provide both classroom education and hands-on experience. Course content will come from the NSCA’s Essentials of Personal Training text and the topics covered will include: Exercise Sciences, Initial Consultation & Evaluation, Exercise Technique, Program Design, Clients with Unique Needs, and Safety and Legal Issues. At the conclusion of the course, students will be ready to sit for the NSCA-CPT exam.

Participants will receive the following materials: NSCA’s Essentials of Personal Training, NSCA-CPT Exam Prep Live PowerPoints & Handouts, NSCA Certification Handbook, and the NSCA Personal Trainer Model (all in electronic format).

This class is limited to 20 participants and a minimum of 10 is required for it to make.
