SPJ at UTA visits The Dallas Morning News

Posted 3-20-2017 by Marti Harvey

UTA’s student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and their adviser, Lecturer Kim Jones, JOUR, visited The Dallas Morning News on Feb. 23.

SPJ’s members were given an exclusive tour from UTA alumna and DMN watchdog reporter, Marina Trahan Martinez. Members got to see the inner workings of DNM and had an opportunity to sit in on a meeting of editors as they discussed the following day’s newspaper outline.

The tour was one of many events the organization offers throughout the semester. SPJ at UTA will be cosponsoring another event on March 4 at 10 a.m. along with the SPJ Fort Worth chapter.  The event “Detecting Fake News” is free and open to the public.
