2015-2016 Sun Belt Community Service Initiative Winners

At the annual All Sports Banquet this past Wednesday, the UTA Athletic Department announced that our student athletes won the Sun Belt Community Service Initiative for their incredible volunteer efforts and community giving. The teams we cheer on every day have gone above and beyond in their commitment to make the DFW area better for all who live here. The award is one more demonstration of why it’s great to be a part of the Maverick family and another reason why we all cheer, "Go Mavs!"

UTeach Arlington Grads

Former astronaut Bernard Harris gave a keynote address to a group of UTA UTeach alumni who gathered to celebrate the success of the program. UTeach is designed to encourage math and science majors to enter the education field and consider earning secondary certifications to teach STEM subjects in Texas schools. The program allows students to concurrently earn a degree while working toward a career in education. Its mission is to help overcome the shortage of secondary math and science teachers in Texas and helps to advance UTA's Strategic Plan 2020: Bold Solutions, Global Impact.
